A Toms River man is facing attempted murder, assault and weapons charges after police say he threatened an acquaintance with a handgun and fired the weapon near her head. The bullet missed.
Richard Dugo, 32, was arrested March 25 after police were called to a home on Bryant Avenue in Toms River. Police say Dugo entered a neighboring home on Bryant Avenue at 9:45 p.m. March 24, armed with a handgun. Upon arrival he allegedly confronted a woman who he knew who was visiting the residence. He then threatened her with the weapon, according to police spokesman Ralph Stocco.
“During the brief altercation he placed the handgun near her head and fired a bullet.” said Stocco. “The bullet missed the woman and Dugo left the home.”
Dugo is currently being held without bail in the Ocean County Jail. He is also awaiting a court date for charges stemming from a Dec. 23, 2017 incident in which he is alleged to have assaulted a woman with his car by dragging her as he drove away from the scene of a verbal argument in Toms River.
