Toms River police are seeking help from the public in identifying a man who they believe stole a wallet from an 82-year-old shopper at the Shop Rite store on Route 37 Tuesday.

According to police spokesman Ralph Stocco, the Manchester woman told an officer that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart. The wallet appears to have been removed from her cart around 2 p.m., Stocco said.

The investigation developed a person of interest that our detectives would like to speak to – a white man in his 40s who wears glasses. On the date of the incident he was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers with white laces, said Stocco. Video of the man in the store is included with this article.
