Toms River’s police department is conducting a selection process to find candidates to fill the position of summer and beach district special police officers for the 2017 summer season.
The position is a Class I officer who is not armed.
Requirements for the job include:
- Minimum age of 18.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Possess a High School Diploma.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Pass a psychological examination.
The job entails:
- Traffic control.
- Enforcement of local ordinances and parking enforcement.
- Any and all other assignments at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor on an as needed basis.

Completed applications will be accepted at the Department of Human Resources and Police Headquarters. Please submit applications along with a resume, any certifications and letters of reference. Candidates will be chosen based on the above information and will be contacted to arrange for an interview, be fingerprinted and sign a consent form for a background investigation. Any applicant not contacted by January 23rd, 2017 has not been chosen for an interview.

The salary was $11.00 per hour in 2016 and has yet to be determined for 2017.
